Woke up this morning and had to check out by 1130 and also meet Scott. He convinced us last night to stay an extra night in Barcelona and to stay with him at his place. We agreed since we didn’t really get a chance to see Barcelona and we had 3 nights in Valencia so we thought we could borrow one for sure. So we checked out and brought our things to Scott’s place but had to be stealthy. His landlord didn’t allow overnight guests since it is a dorm for the school he is attending. But we made it in, no problem. We had to go see Barcelona in a day and originally planned to go to the beach but were convinced to see more. So we went to Sagrada de Familia, this massive church in the middle of the city that started to be built like 150 years ago and still isn’t finished. It was really the coolest looking church I have ever seen. The front is supposed to represent the birth of Christ and the back the death. It was really, really cool. We only saw it from the outside but was really impressed. Afterwards, we grabbed a bite to eat and had to say goodbye to Scott since he had school all afternoon. We did plan to meet up later though for supper. We decided to take the metro to the North end of the city to see this park that was meant to be really neat. It had some of Gaudi’s architecture in it and was a really hot day so it got to be really warm. We wondered around for awhile though and got to see some of it. It was literally on top of this massive hill overlooking the city so it was a really cool view and there were even escalators to take you to the top. Lol!!! Afterwards we headed back to the city centre and hit up the city beach for awhile. It is a manmade beach so nothing to write home about but was still nice to lay out in the sun. It was entertaining because they try to sell you everything and anything on the beach. There was a guy selling donuts that he carried on a tray on top of his head, massages, refreshments/drugs, and hair braiding. The guys selling drinks would yell coca cola, cervesa, aqua and then whisper marijuana, hash, coca when they walked by you. It was pretty funny but they were definitely persistent. We had plans to meet back up with Scottie and go for dinner so we met him close to the beach. We took the metro back to the same square we had drinks at last night and sat at this outdoor restaurant and had a really yummy meal. We had paella and salmon and it was really good, and really cheap. We had plans to go out that night to the gay bar...we had promised Scottie we’d go with him since he hadn’t been in awhile. We went back to his place, got ready and started having some more wine after we had a couple of pitchers of sangria at dinner. We started to crash and found out it was lesbian night at the gay bar so we just threw in the towel and had our slumber party in his room. We were all fast asleep within no time, exhausted from the night before.
