Party Swiss Army Style!

Wednesday, September 1, 2010
Heather was up and out by 9 am this morning to go canyoning, while I took a little longer to be useful. I slept in until 10, then I had to leave the room, they lock it until 3 for cleaning and ended up having a nap on the couch. I caught up on emails, blogging and pictures and just lounged around all day. I finally decided to make something of the day and go for a walk which was really nice. The sun had warmed up the air and I wasn’t freezing as we normally are here. Heather got back in the meantime...she had a really good day. They couldn’t do the one jump because of the water levels but she did a lot of things. They repelled down rocks, jumped off of cliffs, did back flips into the water and slid down rock chutes. The pictures are really good and it looked like a lot of fun. She said though that I would not have made it with my bum ankle so I am really glad that I didn’t try and go. When she got back we had a Skype date with Jax and she has a webcam now so we got to see her and she didn’t have to type everything. It was really, really good to see her and catch up. We then lounged around the room, Heather was not feeling well, fevering and had the chills. We went to get some dinner and ended up running into the Torontonians again and a few other Canadians we had met and started drinking again. So much for not drinking and going to bed early! Heather went to bed a bit early because she was still not feeling well. We ended up going to the nightclub again and dancing it up. There were 50 or so Swiss army guys there in their uniforms so we were definitely out numbered. I ended up talking to a few of them and they were pretty cool guys, we ended up having a few shots together. They are required to serve in the army for four weeks a year and yes they are issued Swiss army knives...don’t worry, I definitely asked! The Swiss are an amazing group of people, quite kind and willing to help but also amazing linguists. They are fluent in Swiss German, English, Italian and French. Anyhow, the time came and passed when was supposed to Skype with my parents that night and I caught them just as they were about to give up on me. They were babysitting Campbell tonight while Brandon and Chantelle were out and since I haven’t seen her in awhile, I asked my parents to meet me on Skype. It was really, really good to see her! She is such a doll and getting so big...long like her parents!!
